I had a very special Christmas. We( auntie, and the girls) made a road trip to the East Coast, first stop Baltimore to see the baby sis then to Philly to visit the rest of the fam...I miss the East Coast..Of coarse I had a hoagie then..x-mas night I had some Chinese food from the local Chinese store...then a cheese steak..pizza..soft pretzel...All of my favorite things from Philly. The girls experienced their first El train ride...they loved it !!! All this excitement I have not had much time to knit...I did complete a few presents but some presents are still in on the needles (its the thought that counts). Live your life !!!!

Well....it is snowing Houston !!! Just yesterday was it was 70 degrees F...What a difference a day makes. This is the type of weather I'm used cold...snowy weather. This inspires me to pick up my needles and just curl up and knit till I fall to sleep. My kids were so excited I had to pul them inside the house..they wanted to make a snowman ( we don't have that much snow).

A Simple Hat
Well I finallycompleted a project. Just a simple hat for my youngest daughter. It hasn't gotten that cold here (the high was about 60 degrees F) This is not cold to some but there is a little chill in the air. Plus I like to have my babies covered up (I'm a little old fashioned). Well anyway I found a nice an easy pattern and just used my stash yarn and just knitted away.

What A Weekend
I'm back from an exciting weekend in Baltimore, MD. I went to Stitches East. I was in knitting heaven and I also got a chance to visit my baby sister (she is 26). It was so nice to see so many people with a shared love of knitting. I took two excellent classes...
Cables... teacher JC Briar...she actually help me get over my fear of reading pattern tables... I enjoyed this class..she didn't lecture alot but came around and gave a good demo of stitches when I had a problem.
Pattern Customization...teacher Gwen Bortner very good information...being the math junkie that I am I liked how with using math you can customize any pattern to fit the yarn you want to use
Between classes I wandered done to the vendor area...Oh My...I had two hours and my goal was to just browse..but then I came across the "Woolstock" booth and let's just say both arms were full with bags of yarn. After this trip I am officially on a yarn strike.

A Great Creation
As a knitter I get great satisfaction in creating beautiful items with my hands. I don't consider myself the a very creative knitter. I consider myself a very functional knitter. I can follow a pattern and make very functional items, hats, scarfs, blankets, etc. This past week I made something that was very functional and creative. A hat for my first daughter. I must say it is very lovely and she does a great job showing it off for me.
I used two very simple patterns :
Hat : Button-Tab Knit Hat by M. Nishioka
Flower : Knit Flower by Sue Thompson

Work In Progress
I was listenining to a song titled "Work In Progress". I immediately thought about how this holiday weekend would be a good time to make some steps toward finishing all of our works in progress. Then I smiled and thought once one item is completed we pick up another set of needles dig thru our stash, dust off a pattern and start another work in progress :)
